Sound family Health

Sound Family Health was founded in April of 2009 by our four dedicated providers. Their goal was to create an environment where the patient comes first. With that goal in mind, our dedicated staff of support professionals strive to provide the best quality of care and experiences for our patients and their families.

Dr. Charles Power received his Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Baylor University prior to completing medical school at the university of Arkansas in 1982. After an internship at Deaconess hospital in Spokane, he completed his family practice residency at north Colorado Medical Center in 1985. Dr. Power then practiced in the Spokane area for nine years before moving to Poulsbo in 1998. He practiced family medicine at a clinic in Poulsbo for eleven years, and then launched sound Family Health beginning on Bainbridge Island in 2009. Dr. Power is a board certified member of the American Academy of Family Practice. He enjoys cycling, backpacking, piano playing and singing. Dr. Power is a member of the Bainbridge Chorale, and Grace Episcopal Church. He is a founder of Concerts at the Barn, a local music venue for the community.

My practice philosophy is one of collaboration. I believe a person’s health is primarily their responsibility. I see my role as being a patient advocate and helping determine best treatment options for the variety of diseases that occur. I think collaborating with the patient is the best way to get the best healthcare and still observe the best science.

Teresa-3.jpg

Dr. Teresa Andersen

Dr. Teresa is originally from KC, MO but moved west with her family, ultimately graduating from Gonzaga University and then UW for medical school. She served 8 years in the Navy and then chose to stay in Kitsap County. She and Dr. Brad raised 2 children: Katherine and Dave. Although it is challenging to maintain a private practice in the era of big hospital medicine, Dr Teresa believes that a more personal approach leads to better health. When not working, Dr. Teresa enjoys keeping fit and spoiling her two dogs Koko and Zeus.

Hoffman-4.jpg

Dr. Mark Hoffman

Dr. Mark Hoffman received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from Pacific Lutheran University. He worked in HIV vaccine research at the University of Washington before attending medical school there, receiving his M.D. degree in 1997. After a three year family medicine residency at the University of Rochester he moved back to the Northwest and joined a Poulsbo Family Practice clinic in 2000. In 2009 he left to launch Sound Family Health. Dr. Hoffman is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice. Dr. Hoffman has enjoyed home brewing for the past 28 years. He resides in Poulsbo with his family and enjoys snow and water skiing.

Clinical Administrator

Ashley is our Clinical Administrator here at Sound Family Health. She started with the clinic when we opened our doors in 2009 and worked her way from a Medical Assistant into management. She is highly motivated by the needs of our patients and employees and is truly proud of the level of care that SFH provides to the community.

Ashley was raised here in Poulsbo and graduated from NKHS. She enjoys spending time with her son and family. She is passionate about fly fishing and enjoys being in nature. She loves her pup, Arlo, who is always thrilled to spend time in nature with her. Ashley is a breast cancer survivor and often shares her experience and lessons of a diagnosis like cancer, with our own patients.

The quote she lives by: “You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself ‘I lived through this horror; I can take the next thing that comes along’. You must do the thing you think you cannot do.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
