Sound Family Health Membership

Why Is Sound Family Health a Complete Membership Practice?

Sound Family Health was founded in April 2009 with a clear mission: to deliver the highest quality care while always putting our patients first. From day one, our dedicated team of providers and support staff has been committed to going the extra mile—often behind the scenes—to help patients navigate the complexities of the broader healthcare system.

Over the years, America’s healthcare landscape has shifted significantly. Independent primary care providers like us have faced declining insurance reimbursements, rising administrative burdens, and the increasing costs of unfunded service mandates. These challenges have forced many independent physicians to join large hospital-based organizations—often at the expense of autonomy and personalized care.

At Sound Family Health, we chose a different path. To remain independent and continue providing patient-centered care, we adopted a membership-based model—a sustainable solution that allows us to offer a higher level of service without being limited by traditional insurance constraints.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to join the Complete Membership to become a patient?

Yes. All new patients are required to join the SFH Complete Membership. Your membership begins once your application is accepted, and your annual fee is collected. Each year, you’ll receive a renewal notice in your designated “renewal month,” with payment due by the last day of that month.

What is the cost of membership?

  • Ages 0–25: $25 per year

  • Ages 26 and older: $180 per year

Can I cancel my membership?

Yes. You may cancel your membership at any time if you're not satisfied with the services provided.

  • If cancellation occurs within 90 days of enrollment or renewal, a prorated refund will be issued.

Can the practice cancel my membership?

Yes. Sound Family Health may terminate your membership with 30 days’ written notice under the following circumstances:

  • Non-payment of the membership fee by the due date

  • Failure to comply with insurance or clinic policies

  • Inappropriate behavior or repeated missed appointments

In these cases, membership fees are not refundable.

Will SFH still bill my insurance?

Yes. We will continue to bill your insurance for covered services. You remain responsible for any applicable copays and deductibles. The membership is separate from your insurance coverage and helps us provide services not reimbursed by insurers.

Do I still need health insurance?

Yes. SFH Membership is not a substitute for health insurance. While we welcome both insured and self-pay patients, we strongly recommend maintaining insurance coverage for emergencies, hospital care, and specialty services not provided by our practice.

Will my insurance cover the membership fee?

No. Health insurance plans do not reimburse or cover membership fees. Payment must be made directly to Sound Family Health.

Should I join if I’m healthy?

Absolutely. SFH focuses on preventive care—including wellness exams, screenings, and early detection of health issues—to help keep you healthy and avoid future problems.
